Reviewed pan sauteed filet mignon with caramel-brandy mushroom sauce

Wednesday, May 7, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

This sauce was disgustingly sweet! We love mushrooms with our steaks, and should have stuck with just the mushrooms. After reading all the reviews before making this for our anniversary dinner, I only used 2 T. brown sugar. We had to scrape the sauce off before we could eat the steak, and there was still a lingering sweetness that we didn't like...

"Love this fast, easy and impressive recipe. Recently made it for friends, and got rave reviews and requests for the recipe. In the past I have also added chopped artichokes as a variation. I pound my chicken when the breasts are large and thick. They cook more evenly that way. Make sure you make enough sauce, especially if you are serving th"

"Usually love all of Ina's recipes. However, unless you love an intense, overpowering taste of chocolate, don't make these brownies. I followed the recipe exactly, which is expensive, and found the taste to be so strong it set my teeth on edge. Also, I think 3 T. coffee granules is way too much. The recommendation to refrigerate them overnight b"

It's me again, less frustrated! 3rd time was the charm. 2nd cake I put in a tube pan, which was a disaster. Halfway through baking time I looked in the oven and all my flan had leaked out and was floating in the water bath. You absolutely must watch the video where she doesn't mention caramel, and add the ingredients she adds. Turned out perf"

"I AM SO FRUSTRATED!!! Read all the reviews so I would not make any mistakes. Made this recipe last night, and half the topping stayed in the pan with the caramel sauce. This is for my husband's birthday, so wanted it to be perfect for him and our friends. I watched the video (2012) again this morning to see what I did wrong, and guess what??? "

"BE SURE AND CUT THE ICING RECIPE IN HALF! First time I made this cake was for my Sunday School Class. A line formed around the classroom with people trying to get a piece of the cake. I showed up as someone was scraping the crumbs off the plate so they could taste it! I thought it was overly sweet myself, so next time I made it for my family in"

"FANTASTIC FLAVORS!!! I did all the adjustments with the peppers to get the heat that we like. I don't know why my meatloaf would not hold together. Did anyone else have a problem? I will add more bread crumbs next time, and maybe cut down a little on the catsup. On the Salsa, because of the reviews, I cut way down on the brown sugar and it was still a little too sweet for me. Next time I'll use a teaspoon. This has such an incredible flavor. Served it with the potato salad, which was also amazing. That will be my standard recipe from now on. My husband said it was the best meatloaf he has ever had. Guess that means it's a keeper!"

"FANTASTIC FLAVORS
I followed the recipe (even carved the chicken like she did), and used about 5 cloves of garlic. I put Seran wrap over the chicken and weighted it with an iron skillet. I believe it is absolutely necessary to marinade this overnight to get the flavors. I cooked it in the oven instead of on a grill, and broiled it a few minutes to brown it a little more. Then I basted the chicken with that wonderful sauce. It was so moist and delicious. My husband is still raving about it. Will use that marinade for other things now that I have the recipe."
