I see some reviewers had trouble getting the pop corn to pop while cooking on medium heat. I put my electric burner to med. high (7 out of 10. I followed the recipe word for word. When the test kernels popped (all the way out of the pot!! , I set my kitchen timer at 4 minutes. I quickly tossed in the pat of butter, pre-measured sugar, and the pop corn. By the time I was seasoning the popped corn in a paper bag, the 4 minute timer went off. It was that quick and simple to prepare this recipe. When the popcorn stops popping, take the pot off the heat or you'll end up with charred popcorn.

***ps be sure you use a heavy bottomed pot that will distribute heat evenly. If you use a thin, metal pot you'll end up with a charred mess.
