Reviewed Lychee Martini

Sunday, Aug 4, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

"Ran across some fresh lychees in Trader Joe's this afternoon and bought them, really not knowing what to expect. I've only had canned lychees in the past and was completely unimpressed. The fresh ones are lovely and delicate. I muddled 4 lychees in the bottom of a cocktail shaker and ended up with quite a bit of juice. I used another fresh lyc"

"Oh my! The flavors are exquisite. When Michael Chiarello made this with Ina Garten, he added coriander which was omitted from the recipe. The combination of the grape juice, fennel, and coriander are totally lovely. I've never used grape juice as a sauce base before. I will definitely file this one away. "

"Thought this was delicious and such a pretty presentation. I appreciated the reviews which I read prior to making the dish. I used just a tiny bit of nutmeg - maybe 1/2 tsp, and I made sure to add an extra egg since I only had large eggs and Ina always uses extra large. I also omitted the bread crumbs since someone said it was dry. BTW, I ALWA""

Reviewed Chris Mooney's Sardine Tartines Platter

Saturday, Jun 18, 2011 on Cooking Channel

"So here I am in the US with basically 2 sardine options... the ones with the bones and tails that are packed in water or the Crowne Prince things that are skinless/boneless in water. Of course, I select the skinless, boneless ones since I am trying to make this appealing to my pedestrian loved ones. (sigh... how I wish I had access to the lovely"

Reviewed Mascarpone with Raspberry and Pineapple

Monday, Mar 28, 2011 on FoodNetwork.com

"I loved these. They are light and delicately flavored. This is NOT a heavy dessert. A word of caution though - you need to keep the filling and the baked cups separate until right before serving or the phyllo cups will become soggy. Both can be made well ahead and assembled immediately before serving.

This was my first venture into phyllo dough - it dries out quickly so keep unused covered with a moist towel. I wanted a lower calorie version so my proportions were 1/4 c mascarpone, 1/4 c non fat plain yogurt, 1/4 c sugar free raspberry preserves, 1/4 c crushed pineapple.

I enjoyed experimenting with the phyllo and will look for other uses now. Also, this recipe should lend itself well to lots of variations!

Reviewed Cornmeal and Rosemary Cake with Balsamic Syrup

Wednesday, Feb 2, 2011 on FoodNetwork.com

"What an elegant little cake! It was moist and delicate. I made it exactly to the recipe. There is nothing common about this cake - it would be a lovely dessert for a sophisticated dinner party or just cake to go with tea.

Reviewed Spicy Pumpkin Vodka Infusion

Sunday, Dec 26, 2010 on FoodNetwork.com

"This was putrid to put it kindly. I'm a vodka girl. I love vodka in all kinds of cocktails, I like it straight up in a martini - this was horrible. I tried... I really tried... but ultimately, I poured a $20 bottle of Absolute down the sink. We won't discuss the $17 worth of vanilla bean. I may never eat pumpkin or any kind of squash again. This was the most horrible stuff. Usually I like Claire's recipes - this was the first "cocktail" of hers that I've tried. I need to be excused now - I need to get the stench out of my garbage disposal. I was forced to give this a rating. I tried to give it NO stars, but the system wouldn't let me.
